About Oblivion

The world of Oblivion revolves around a group of creatures called Ethirials. These creatures are composed of a special type of energy that gives them the ability to turn into cards.

Your goal is to defeat your opponent's Ethirial by reducing its Energy counter down to 0.

Each beast comes with a unique special ability, however the key is to combine your partner's special ability with the ability cards. The decisions you make will affect the outcome of the battle.

The game is completely based on strategy, use your cards wisely, because it is in your hands to work with your partner and claim your victory.

Tribes

Since the beginning of time, in a dimension that vibrates at the same frequency as the Earth, a star was forming.

Not much is known from this dimension, other than being the place where Ethirials come from.

Thus, a twin earth was created inhabited by 7 majestic creatures that contributed to its development. Each with unique abilities that helped terraform it into what we know today.

The Beginning

The story of Oblivion has evolved throughout the years since the idea was 1st conceived. The original precursor goes back to 2007, when one of its co-founders was in 4th grade. Yu-Gi-Oh and Chaotic were popular back then, so in a way it was inspired by the TCG genre. Its original name was Dragons, since it revolved around taming dragon cards. He used to cut cereal boxes, draw custom-made cards and share them with his classmates.

Fast-forward 3-4 years later, somewhere between 2010, and 2011, the original concept evolved into its 2nd iteration, Brawlers. Around this time, he got into game development by watching tutorials on YouTube. Fascinated by the idea of making your own game, mixed with the opportunity of turning the card game into a video game, he dived into the video game development world.

It all started with ROM-Hacking, taking emulated games and changing its code, sprites, animations, to develop your own game. Upon searching through the Internet, we stumbled upon a forum with a community that supported ROM-Hacking, and fan game creations.

Given, that it was around 2010, or 2011, we invested a good amount of my time learning how to code, and design the creatures that inhabit this world. Between 2012, and 2014, after learning how to code, basic programming knowledge, and making sprites, we finally created a fan game for people to enjoy, and the 1st virtual iteration of Oblivion. Using a tool developed by a member of the community, we delivered a game filled with the characters created over the past 7 years.

This time around it had evolved to the 3rd iteration, Oblivion, but not its final.
